Merseyside Police has released an image of the handgun found in a garden in Norris Green yesterday, Monday 2 May, as investigations continue.

The weapon was found hidden in a back garden at an address on the East Lancashire Road at around 4pm. **The weapon, a loaded handgun with a silencer, was recovered and ballistics tests are ongoing to establish if it is a viable weapon.**

Detective Sergeant Dave Banner, from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime team, said: “I would encourage the public to call us if they know where weapons are being stored, or if they have any information about those involved in gun crime. You can be entirely confident that information provided will be acted up on and this could really help us to make our communities safer.
