Craig has rubbished the claims

Strictly Come Dancing judges have been accused of ‘docking’ Danny Mac’s points in recent weeks due to the actor having a stage show past. Now, controversial judge Craig Revel Horwood has spoken with our Ents team to address the rumours.

Craig joined our Ents team for an interview on the red carpet of Tom Cruise’s brand new movie, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and slammed claims himself and fellow judges, Bruno Tonioli, Darcy Bussell and Len Goodman are lowering scores on the show.

When asked what he think of the rumours, Craig said “Oh As if! No he just needs to pull his frame up and he might get a ten. He’s getting nines what’s to complaint about!”

He then added, “I don’t usually hand out nines until week six or seven, it really is a high standard this year and I’m loving it.”

The claims started when Danny’s fellow contestant Ore Oduba scored 39 out of 40 last weekend, beating the previous highest score of 36 that Danny set.

As well as putting those rumours to bed, Craig also revealed his thoughts on Will Young’s shock departure from the show. The former Pop Idol singer sensationally quit the show citing ‘personal reasons’ two weeks ago.

Speaking about his departure, Craig said “It’s a real shame Will left. He had a lot to offer and he was so brilliant up until he decided to leave. But people have personal problems and they have to leave and that’s completely understandable.”

Despite his departure, it seems Craig would love to see Will back on the show at one point. He added, “I will fly the flag for him, if he ever wants to come back, he’s more than welcome!”
