Disney's Moana is a new animated film due for release in December 2016 and a features the voice of newcomer Auli’i Cravalho (pictured below) alongside Dwayne Johnson.

Auli’i was picked from hundreds of hopefuls from the Pacific island by impressing the producer Osnat Shurer who said, “Auli’i was among a small number of girls we brought back for a second round of auditions. Then we flew her and her mom over to audition at our studios in Burbank.”

Auli’i will voice the title role of Moana who is a 16-year-old girl growing up on an island where voyaging is forbidden. Desperate to find out what is beyond the sea Moana embarks on a mission to become a wayfinder and comes across the once-mighty demi-god Maui (Dwayne Johnson).

The pair cross the ocean together encountering enormous fiery creatures.

Moana will be released on the 2nd December 2016.
